The State Controlling Board approved more than $800,000 in Clean Ohio Assistance Fund grants for the cities of Chillicothe and Massillon and for Miami Township on January 31, 2011. The City of Chillicothe (Ross County) will receive a $146,594 grant to conduct a Phase II Environmental Assessment on the former Oil and Battery property. The City of Massillon (Stark County) will receive a $300,000 grant to conduct a Phase II Environmental Assessment on the Northern portion of the former Republic Steel Facility. Miami Township (Montgomery County) will receive a $379,516 grant to conduct demolition and remediation activities on the former NCR Training Facility.
